Dog thrives as mouth bound in electrical tape fixed(Philips Ultrasonic Probe)

Caitlyn the dog was found with her mouth taped shut with electrical tape and she underwent surgery to repair the damage suffered by this grisly deed. She is expected to recover enough to be able to eat and drink without assistance. The person who taped the dog's mouth shut purposely tried to harm this dog, said Veterinarian Dr. Kelli Klein, who is caring for this dog, according to the Canada Journal on June 5.

Klein conveyed that the person who taped this dog's mouth shut wanted to do some damage to this dog. Philips Ultrasonic Probe She said, "They did what they went out to do," which was do some extreme harm to this dog. She went on to say "Just thankfully someone intervened so she didn't die."

People Magazine reports that Caitlyn is "finally having a good week" in North Charleston, South Carolina, at the Mount Pleasant Veterinary Specialty Care, where she is being cared for. After surgery this week, the chocolate Staffordshire pup is expected to make a full recovery, with some minimal loss of tongue function.

Her surgery took longer than the doctors first anticipated, but it is done and it was a success. They needed to surgically repair the dog's mouth, lip and tongue after the horrendous deed done to the dog earlier in the week.

Court affidavits explain that a family had the 15 month old puppy who was quite destructive around the house, as puppies can be. She was chewing things and the family didn't have the time to train her properly. They sold the puppy on Memorial Day to a man they said they didn't know.

Two days later the dog was left on their front lawn with its mouth taped shut and its tongue black. Caitlyn's tongue was hanging out of her mouth stuck between her teeth. The dog was bleeding from her mouth. The family called 911 for help and in turn the animal rescue folks came to retrieve the dog.

The man who did this to the dog was ultimately found and thrown in jail on a $50,000 bond. William Leonard Dodson, 41, was charged with ill treatment of an animal involving torture.

Dodson was out on bond for drug charges when he taped this dog's mouth shut. His reasoning behind doing this to the dog is because the dog wouldn't stop barking. This sentencing and setting of the bond was done too quickly for Adwin Roman, who is the Charleston Animal Society's Director of Anti Cruelty Outreach. He said the bond amount was too low. "I don't think $50,000 makes up for all the pain and suffering."

He had hoped to get to speak during court to advocate for a much higher bond for this man. Roman wanted to convey to the judge just how horrendous this man's deeds were and the lasting problems that Cailyn will suffer. Roman said the judge set the bond quickly and moved on to the next case, so he didn't get his chance. If Dodson is found guilty he could face up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine.

"Her [Caitlyn] life is not at all going to be easy even after she recovers," said Roman. "She's going to be permanently disfigured and permanently disabled. The damage is done." The vet agrees that the dog will suffer some permanent damage, but is hopeful she will learn to compensate for the injuries and live a happy life.

Roman also said: "This is the most malicious case of animal abuse I have seen in my entire career. To leave this dog in pain, unable to eat or drink and to now leave her in the position where her life is at stake because she may lose her tongue is heartbreaking."

Caitlyn should recover from her surgery in about a week and she could go to a foster home in as little as 10 days.
